Ships aren’t that popular nowadays. And we’re talking about SHIPS, not some fancy yachts or cruise boats. So, what are the pros and cons of travelling by ship in modern world?
(By the way: don’t take this text too seriously.)
PROS:
- well, first of all, you participate in some kind of event that’s gonna leave an emotional mark on you. Because, you know, you’re not really used to travel by ship. It’s something new, and thus – something exciting. It’s like the first time you rode a bike, or the first time you flew by plane.
- we know ships are slow, but that’s not a con. Why? Because if you choose to travel by ship – nowadays, when you can buy a plane ticket or use a superfast train – you agree to take the slower route. But it comes with a bonus, and you know it. Sailing is something hard to forget. Open sea, unpredictable weather, the ship and the nature struggling against each other… Well, maybe it’s not that romantic, but still – it’s better than a boring airplane.
- it’s a way to experience history! See what it was to board a ship, having two weeks of travel before you, knowing nothing about sailing, and – if it’s possible – knowing not-too-much about your destination. It’s ADVENTURE – something modern world is lacking.
CONS:
- only one. The author of this text doesn’t really know if it’s possible to take a passenger cruise from London to New York. But don’t worry – less epic cruises are available for sure.
But otherwise, we’d recommend travelling by ship. Ironically, it’s something new for people addicted to all this electronic stuff. And although new isn’t always better, it’s fresh – and that counts when you’re looking for vacation ideas.
