Places to see before you die

How should a traveller choose most important places to see before death? Is relying on Internet rankings the right way to plan travels of your life? Honestly, we don’t think so, but we can suggest you a few spots, and you can consider visiting them.

It all depends on what you find really attractive. Would you like to visit most obvious locations, like pyramids or Eiffel’s Tower, or rather see something that relatively few people know about or have seen before you? If you’re interested in what’s unique and not well-known, this is a list that may interest you. If you’re looking for “the greatest architectural wonders” – we recommend one of hundreds articles you can easily find on the Web.

5. Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Canada

A place where for thousands of years Native Americans killed bisons, chasing them off the cliff. It’s one of a few “jumps” in North America, but – arguably – the most beautiful of them all.

4. Mount Roraima, Venezuela

This unusual mountain’s peak is surrounded by 400-metre-tall, very steep cliffs on all sides, which make it one of the most strange-looking places on the planet.

See it yourself.

3. Chocolate Hills, Philippines

When you see Chocolate Hills, it’s like you’ve suddenly jumped into a fairy tale. Green hills that turn brown in the dry season may look like man-made, but be sure they’re 100% natural, and 100% unique.

2. Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

When you visit Salar de Uyuni – the largest salt flat in the world – you’ll feel like you’ve travelled to another planet. Unusual rock formations, colors that may seem unnatural – you’ll see that and much more.

1. Socotra, Republic of Yemen

Speaking of other planets, you definitely should see Socotra, the largest island of a small archipelago in the Indian Ocean. This “planet” is not only strange-looking, but also very alive.

See it for yourself, as there are no words that could describe it.
